  About the NCCA

The Northern California Concierge Association is a non-profit professional organization of hotel-employed concierges. We represent over fifty of the top hotels, resorts, and country inns in Northern California. With membership currently at more than one hundred and fifty concierges, we are still growing. While the majority of the membership is based in San Francisco, our membership coverage extends north into the Napa and Sonoma Valleys, east to Yosemite National Park, and south to the Monterey Peninsula and Carmel-by-the-Sea. At this time, membership is available to any hotel-employed concierge that works a minimum of twenty hours at a lobby desk or on the "concierge level" of a hotel.

A Board of elected officers heads the NCCA. Each position on the Board requires a two-year commitment by a current member of the association. The Board meets prior to each of the monthly membership meetings to discuss association business. Our monthly meetings are for all NCCA members, invited speakers, and guests only. The NCCA Board operates under a set of bylaws and a code of ethics that have been in place for nearly ten years.

The primary goal of the NCCA and its Board is to further the profession and professionalism of the concierge in Northern California. We achieve this goal through education of the membership and also of vendors and service providers. There are numerous opportunities for a vendor or service provider to approach the concierge, and the benefits of such exposure can be tremendous. At our monthly meetings there are usually several presentations given by vendors who provide valuable information on their wares and services. A mixer or event may be held to showcase a venue, show, etc.. We accept mailings and e-mailings with information as well. In educating local vendors, we illustrate the value of the concierge as a "free salesperson" for their products. Like an actual salesperson, it is important that the concierge be knowledgeable about the products and services available. The NCCA makes it easy for vendors to demonstrate their products or services in an atmosphere mutually beneficial to both parties. Considering the number of guests that stay throughout Northern California, and the immense variety of their requests, it is important for our members to be well informed on a variety of topics. Every guest has different needs. We welcome any and all local vendors, including restaurants, museums, galleries, tour guides, retail, airlines, and theaters. We actively pursue contacts that will benefit our guests. Because a concierge relies on his or her word as a binding contract, the NCCA maintains strict guidelines concerning ethics and modes of conduct. NCCA members are not allowed to participate in incentive programs, and are required to sign an ethics policy before being accepted.

In a continuous effort to encourage the pride and esteem of our organization, the NCCA is proud to participate in a variety of charitable causes on a local and national level. You will see NCCA members at least once a year on the KQED "telethon" fundraising drive, as well as participating with Habitat for Humanity, City Guides, The Night Ministry, and many more. The NCCA also makes presentations to the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau membership about better ways to network to San Francisco hotel guests.

The Northern California Concierge Association is a fun and social group that takes the profession of concierge very seriously. We are very proud to promote one of the best places on earth, Northern California.
